SCICAP has been selected to administer case management services for individuals impacted by the 2010 disasters
Case management advocates will work directly with individuals and families to determine their unmet needs and assist with efforts to reduce the impact of and to recover from the 2010 disasters in Decatur, Lucas and Monroe Counties.
Advocates will remain in contact with clients as much as necessary to assess how each person is doing in their recovery plan. Advocates will also network with other agencies to see what services and resources are available to help Iowans best recover.
Besides providing case managers, SCICAP will be helping impacted Iowans apply for the state’s Unmet Needs Disaster Grant program. The program provides up to $2,500 per household to help pay for losses or expenses from this year’s disasters which have not yet been covered by other forms of assistance. Expenses for personal property, home repair, food assistance, child care and temporary housing may be eligible for reimbursement. Eligible participants must have a FEMA number for unmet needs program assistance. The grants are designed to help cover unmet needs in counties declared presidential disaster areas for Individual Assistance between June 1 and August 31, 2010.
Program will end June 1, 2011.
